DECAL APPLICATION
Getting the best from your decal

SURFACE REQUIREMENTS
The interior wall decal requires a smooth painted surface for best performance.

Clean, painted drywall offers the best application surface.
The addition of texture or raised/decorative swirls will reduce surface contact lessening the bond of the wall graphic.
Wood or wood panels, while appearing smooth still have texture induced by the wood grain that could affect wall graphic adhesion and cause premature failure.
Stucco, heavy textures, plaster, rough finished concrete or similar types of surfaces must be thoroughly tested before application of an interior wall graphic.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Preparing a wall properly before applying a wall decal is crucial to ensure it adheres well and lasts a long time without peeling or bubbling. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get your wall ready:

1. Clean the Wall Thoroughly
-
Dust and dirt can prevent the decal from sticking properly.
-
I needed a mild soap and water solution can be used to clean the wall.
-
Wipe it down with a damp cloth, let it dry or dry it with a clean towel.
-
Avoid using harsh cleaners or anything oil-based, as these can affect adhesion.

2. Repair Wall Imperfections
-
Patch any holes, cracks, or dents with spackle or wall filler.
-
Sand the patched areas smooth once dry.
-
Wipe away dust with a dry, lint-free cloth.

3. Paint Considerations (if applicable)
-
If the wall was recently painted, wait at least 3 weeks for the paint to fully cure before applying decals.
-
Decals adhere best to semi-gloss, satin, or eggshell finishes.

4. Ensure a Smooth Surface
-
If your wall is textured, consider lightly sanding it for a smoother finish.
-
Decals don’t stick well to rough or uneven surfaces.

Optional: Test the Surface
-
Stick a small piece of masking tape to the wall.
-
If it sticks firmly and peels off cleanly, your wall is ready.
